I thought I was going to be missing home like crazy this Christmas. Little did I know, I would be too busy having fun at my training site's host sister's wedding! What's even more surprising is that Christmas morning felt like an actual Christmas morning, where family is gathered together and laughing with each other. I could feel the love they have for each other and for me too. I won't go into details about the crazy whirlwind of what a Khmer wedding is like. It involves too many makeup sessions and outfit changes. It also has lots of great food, dancing, and fun too of course. I spent Dec 22 to 25 morning with my training host family in Kandal Province. Here are some photos: After the eventful weekend, I headed back home to my site on Christmas day afternoon. It was so nice because on the way home, I was able to video call my parents back in the US. When I got back to my site, my host family was waiting there for me. I had also made plans to meet with my health center staff. We originally planned on doing a Christmas Walk 5K event, but it was raining so it just ended up being a fun Christmas gathering. Either way, everyone had fun! It truly was a nice Christmas! I'm very thankful for the love and care I received from the Khmer people who became my family, friends, and neighbors. I'm looking forward to many more happy memories with everyone here. <3
