Sakada is one of the brightest kids in the village. His English is probably the best among all the middle school and high school students I know. He did not take extra lessons for English. He just watches various YouTube videos in English and started speaking and understanding English by himself. He carries this "I'm too cool to talk to you" persona around, but I'm happy to say I am able to get to know him pretty well. I really like hanging out with him so I asked him if I could share about him to my friends and family around the world. He was a bit hesitant at first because he's a private guy. However, he graciously agreed to let me write a few things about him that he's willing to share with the public: Introduction: My name is Sakada. I am 12 years old. I am from Kampong Cham in Cambodia. I am studying in Kor Middle School. Free Time: I like to play football (soccer) outside. I also like to play games on my telephone. Usually, I like to come hang out at the health center and use wifi because that’s where my grandfather works. That is where I met Christine. Favorite food: My favorite American food is pizza. My favorite Khmer food is Somlaw Curry (Khmer chicken curry made with coconut milk, fish paste, potatoes, and veggies). Future goals: I am not exactly sure yet, but I am interested in science so maybe become a researcher. A few words for Peace Corps Volunteers and their families/friends: I love American people because they’re smart and friendly. It’s fun for me to practice my English language skills with them. I hope more of them will come visit us!
